I cannot stand it when someone gets praise for being racist and then giving HALF ASS gun-to-their-head apologies. It’s like “HOORAY they so selflessly admitted to the flaws of their ways.” (sarcasm)
The title itself isn’t even conscious of the fact that she makes money off of racist jokes and sketches on a daily, CURRENT basis. It’s about her only apologizing for the one joke that had the most viral outcry.
But past the title, the worst has yet to come:
While Schumer’s comedy has been on point lately with her feminist sketches and her fantastic speech about self-empowerment, her jokes about non-white people hadn’t quite evolved along with the rest of her material.
Race and Gender are mutually exclusive. IT’S NOT FEMINISM if it’s centered on only white women. The racism cancels out the attempts at what she wants to call feminism. If non-white people are still at the margin of your work its not feminism. It’s not about “well I stopped making overtly racist jokes” it’s about the racist framework of what you do and the persona you make money off of.
